Now open for business

After several months without a "new topic" button (sorry - didn't spot it), the scores forum is now open for business.

Re: "Scores" Section?

Hi,

Sorry about that. I'm still getting used to the weird default settings on phpBB. Who would have thought the default would be not to have a post button.

Anyway, there is one now, so please post away to your heart's content.

Merry Christmas,

Re: Song words

Hi, Use the "w:" field. It's not universally available, but abcm2ps (and software that uses it, like AbcExplorer) make it quite easy. There are thousands of examples in the tune search (just search for "w:") - one picked at random is http://abcnotation.com/tunePage?a=www.laymusic...

Re: Transposing

A number of software packages (but not all) have transposition built in - see the software page (each table has a transpose column).

Alternatively, if you just want to transpose a single tune, try the abc converter which offers the option to show the transposed abc.

Re: "Scores" Section?

Yes - good idea.

Can you suggest a list of the collections that might be included?

The definitive abc standard

For (far too) many years, there has been no definitive abc standard . (Apologies!) Software developers are unsure which features to implement and users are unsure which are supported by a given package. Accordingly, I would like the abc user community as a whole to vote on which standard they would ...
