Help with ledger lines

Hi

I'm new here...

I'm trying to score some music for a friend. One problem I can't seem to find a solution to is how to force a note to stay on a particular clef. For instance, if I have a simple (treble clef) tune that dips to G, for the odd note, this usually appears in bass clef (I'm using abc explorer). Is there a simple way to fix this?

Many thanks,
Mike

Oooh - I found out how to do it!!!

[I: staff 2] forces the next note to appear on staff 2, including rests! And it works in abcExplorer!!!

Brill!

p.s. is it always this quiet around here?

Mike

Hi Mike,
abcm2ps normally makes automatic decisions as to where to place any given note, and usually that's fine.
But you can over-ride this for bits of the tune as you've done.
But easier still, you can force a voice to stay on one clef throughout, whatever the notes, by specifying the clef in the header. In your case for a single voice, assuming the key of e.g. Gmajor do this:-

K:G clef=treble (or whatever)

Refer to the abcplus_En manual here http://abcplus.sourceforge.net/#ABCGuide for a fuller explanation. Scroll down the page a bit and download the PDF file.
