simile marks and ad-lib beat marks

Postby hirosmb » Mon Sep 05, 2011 9:24 am

Hi, all.

I enjoy abcm2ps and abc2midi very much with editing and playing the bass part of my big band.

And I appreciate if you could answer to my major issues that I haven't been able to solve for a week.

Q1. How to edit the simile marks?
The simile marks are like the ones at following URL. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... simile.png
Though abcm2ps may support the simile marks, I wonder if abc2midi can play properly or not.

Q2. How to edit the ad-lib beat marks?
Since I cannot find the "/" marks as the ad-lib beat marks at wiki, I wonder if this mark is international or available only in Japan.
The ad-lib beat mark that I mean to say is like "four slash marks in one bar", that asks bass players to play ad-lib walking bass in accordance with its chord progression.

Thanx in advance!

Here is what I found for the repeat marks.

The abcjs seems not to be able to treat the "[I:repeart n n]" expression properly, and so the following music notation is not like what I want.

But it works great with abcm2ps and abc2midi.

Regarding the ad-lib beat marks, I found the answer in this forum.

http://welltemperedstudio.wordpress.com ... -marksfmt/

This provides exactly what I want.

Does anyone out there know how to include the postscript descriptions in the .abc file directly?

I just wanna notate only the beat mark "/" without installing .fmt file, if possible, because it must be convenient.

The information in format files are abcm2ps commands without '%%'.
So, if you just want the '/' alone, in your ABC file, insert:

%%beginps
/slashz { %usage: x y slashz
12 sub
M -7 6 RM 11 12 RL 3 0 RL -11 -12 RL -3 0 RL
fill}!
%%endps
%%deco head-slashz 0 slashz 0 0 0

for use as:
!head-slashz!z

Thanx, Jef!

Here is a completed sample notation, though abc.js cannot handle this properly.
