In the "other" category, I'd vote for abc2midi.

Clarification - my top favorite is definitely abcm2ps. My second most favorite is abc2midi.

Aside - this ability to edit your own posts could play havoc with replies IMO.

I'd put abc2midi a ways behind abcm2ps on my favourites list but well ahead of everything else. I do use three different PalmOS tools, but that's partly because none of the three do exactly what I want and each falls down in a different place. In the meantime, as someone who routinely switches between Linux, Windows, MacOS, and BSD, it's no surprise that I lean toward the easily-ported command-line apps.

Definitely abcm2ps.

This abcm2ps seems like it just converts abc music to PostScript. ABCexplorer converts music into both midi files and .pdf sheet music files. But, my true "abc software", what I use to actually "play" the music is Lord of the Rings Online -- it has instruments built into the game that people can learn to play and it can parse .abc files.

I use AbcExplorer, which is is a front end program for PC that uses whatever package of software/version you prefer. By default it downloads abcm2ps and abc2midi, among others.

I think we can't use abcm2ps without abc2midi, so I vote for both (the later should be in the poll), and for the third I chose Skink.

Oops!!! Adding abcMIDI wiped out the previous voting - seems I've still got a bit to learn about these bulletin boards.

Fortunately, there were only 18 votes so far (abcm2ps marginally in the lead), so not too much harm done.

Sorry about that - please vote again.

And yes, I think I'm going to change the ability to modify posts.
