Strum/Rhythm/Beat marks?

Postby Piper984 » Thu Dec 16, 2010 7:02 pm

Hello ABC'ers,

I have used ABC for notating GHB and whistle tunes for many years. I have a need to score some piano+guitar+bass jazz themes, and since I know and like ABC, I am planning on using it to typeset the arrangements.

However: I am not sure how to show a simple 'beat mark.' This is normally a slash, with or without a stem. They are very common on rhythm and lead sheets for guitar players to follow.

Could someone advise me on this? From doing some quick internet searches, all I am seeing are some posts regarding some PS extentions. Is this the best way to do this? Could someone post a quick example?

Background: For the last few years, I've simply used the online 'Tune-O-Tron' when I've needed to bang out a tune. Please advise if I'd also need to get something newer than whatever is running on the Tune-O-Tron website.

Thanks for the help folks!

Chris

Hello folks,

Looks like I found a pretty simple solution here:

http://welltemperedstudio.wordpress.com ... -marksfmt/

I downloaded the latest abcm2ps to Win32 machine, and I'm making slashes! :)

I'd be interested to know of other methods, but this is working for me.
