ABC converter

Postby Chris P » Mon Jun 22, 2009 7:16 pm

I think the ABC software page should include a link alongside 'Convert-a-matic' to 'ABC Converter':-

http://www.folkinfo.org/songs/abcconvert.php

which is an excellent online converter.

Hi Chris, I'd just like to point out that your table of web-based apps should include the fact that ABC Converter will transpose.

I'll class it as experimental for now but I've added Nils Liberg's xml2abc.py to the folkinfo abc converter routines so we can now import (melody only - no w:) musicXML into the converter. The converter should (I hope) know whether abc or musicXML is entered and perform the =>abc conversion if necessary.

Again it's experimental for now but I'm now using abc2xml.py and xml2abc.py from Willem Vree's site: http://wim.vree.org/svgParse/index.html

The converter can now attempt to convert both to and from abc, partwise musicxml and timewise musicxml.
