{"id":402,"date":"2010-07-07T18:31:34","date_gmt":"2010-07-07T17:31:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/abcnotation.com\/blog\/?p=402"},"modified":"2010-07-07T18:31:34","modified_gmt":"2010-07-07T17:31:34","slug":"copyright-first","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abcnotation.com\/blog\/2010\/07\/07\/copyright-first\/","title":{"rendered":"Copyright first"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When I originally set up the tune search I planned not to display copyright tunes.<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->Apart from the fact that I believe copyright <em>should <\/em>always be respected, I&#8217;ve already had one publisher pursuing me for royalties on tunes which were actually displayed on a different website.<\/p>\n<p>However, folk and traditional musicians are often generous with their tunes and I figured that if the copyright creator didn&#8217;t mind me displaying their music here then I would do so.<\/p>\n<p>Accordingly the <a href=\"\/searchCopyright\">copyright page<\/a> has always mentioned that possibility and I&#8217;m delighted to say that the first candidate has stepped up.<\/p>\n<p>Bruce Osborne, who&#8217;s been a prolific tune-smith since the sixties, contacted me to say that he&#8217;d be happy for his tunes to appear on this site and so now they do.
