{"id":555,"date":"2011-06-17T20:43:00","date_gmt":"2011-06-17T19:43:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/abcnotation.com\/blog\/?p=555"},"modified":"2021-07-07T07:03:41","modified_gmt":"2021-07-07T06:03:41","slug":"june-updates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abcnotation.com\/blog\/2011\/06\/17\/june-updates\/","title":{"rendered":"June updates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A quick round up of updates to abcnotation.com since <a href=\"\/blog\/2011\/04\/14\/april-updates\/\">last time<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Several programs have been added to the <a href=\"\/software\">software page<\/a> (not all of them new &#8211; some have been around a while but I only just found out about them),\u00a0 including <a href=\"\/software#MidiZyx2abc\">MidiZyx2abc<\/a>, <a href=\"\/software#ABCEditor\">ABCEditor<\/a>, <a href=\"\/software#BIABTools\">BIABTools<\/a> and <a href=\"\/software#RandomABC\">RandomABC<\/a> (this last generates random tunes for helping to practice sight reading).<\/li>\n<li>A new edition of the <a href=\"\/search\">tune search<\/a> with a further 5,000 tunes, including several additional <a href=\"\/tunes\">collections<\/a> &#8211; for those interested in historical source material there are nearly 300 newly transcribed tunes from <a onclick=\"javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('\/outgoing\/www.maryhumphreys.co.uk\/William_Clarke.php');\"  href=\"http:\/\/www.maryhumphreys.co.uk\/William_Clarke.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">William Clarke<\/a> (an East Anglian musician from the early-mid 19th century) courtesy of Mary Humphreys and others.<\/li>\n<li>And finally for those interested in the nitty-gritty of abc, there&#8217;s a new <a href=\"\/wiki\/abc:standard:v2.1\">draft abc standard, version 2.1<\/a> with a lot of discussion about it on the <a onclick=\"javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('\/outgoing\/tech.groups.yahoo.com\/group\/abcusers\/');\"  href=\"http:\/\/tech.groups.yahoo.com\/group\/abcusers\/\">abcusers mail list<\/a> &#8211; do contribute to the debate if you want to help steer the future direction of abc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Apart from that I&#8217;ve been working on a bespoke midi player for the website &#8230; with added speed controls &#8211; the most popular choice in the &#8220;<a title=\"What next?\" href=\"\/blog\/2011\/03\/16\/what-next\/\">what next<\/a>&#8221; poll.
