It's quite similar with polka, tempo is slower, beat is normally 2/4 or 4/4 can be also "alla breve" . Peoples dance it with pairs first straigth and with twirl and then straigth etc... somehow... I'm lousy dancer. It's very popular dance here in Finland. (He is also not a native English speaker.)
